Thinking of getting a Tumblr.
Just to post up some fannish stuff* and do some reblogs. I'd probably forget about it at random.
*Basically, I did a hack-job partial translation of a doujin someone posted up a while back, and I'd like to post it up for the benefit of said person. Not going to get a Tumblr right this minute, however, as I have to get to the computer where I had said hack-job lying around.
Said translation is incomplete because one page is mostly a monologue, and I am not looking forward to painfully searching out the kanji for ~5 paragraphs of Japanese so I can paste the text into Google Translate, then looking up the grammatical rules for 50% of that text so I can salvage the actual meaning from the nonsense spewed out by Google Translate's dubious grasp of Japanese. Hack-translating doujinshi is a special hell reserved for bureaucrats who made people work through far too much paperwork in life.
Also, the Water Temple is really annoying. I beat Dark Link and now have the Longshot, so that's not a problem... but all the running around gets old.
I think its biggest problem may actually be its one-central-hub design. With the Forest Temple's five-door room, it was pretty easy to remember where you'd already gone and what you were finished doing. But the Water Temple has FOUR rooms on each of the three levels, plus at least two in the central tower, for a total of fourteen entrances to give a once-over when trying to figure out where to get the next Small Key. Oh, and you have to go raise and lower the water level every time you want to inspect a different set of four. It's brilliant thematically, but it is acutely user-unfriendly. And apparently the original OOT was even worse... was that segment just not play-tested? It seems like someone should have caught that.
