Planning out team (SPOILERS for next Nuzlocke installment)

I now have a Geodude, a Spearow, and a Magikarp.

Problem is, I only have 6 slots on my team.

Now, Spearow > Pidgey because Spearow's line evolves faster, hits harder and faster, and gets Drill Peck. Pidgey > Spearow because Pidgey's line doesn't DIE the moment it gets hit. Still - Spearow will make more drama for Nuzlocke, now that I think of it. :B Spearow it is.

Now, I have to choose Rattata, Butterfree, or Nidoran to boot off my team for Geodude and/or Magikarp, since you're insane if you think I'm booting Squirtle. :P Of the three, Rattata is weak for now but powers up once it evolves and learns Hyper Fang, Butterfree has status moves to learn, and Nidoran is weak for now but [insert Rattata description here]. Geodude, meanwhile, is absolutely solid, and Magikarp... is worthless until I'm grinding to 20. (Durability for switchgrinding is NOT an issue in the pre-Pursuit world!)  After that, however, Gyarados becomes good both as a fighter and as a utility Pokemon for knocking down higher-level wild Pokemon's HP by a consistent 40 in case of overleveling.

I vote for grinding everyone to ~16 (18, for Pokemon that evolve then) and seeing how I evaluate things then. The L14 Trainers on Route 3 scared the DICKENS out of me when they popped up, and Mt. Moon wilds are L10 and up, to tell from Geodude. (Yes, it's VERY obvious at this point that I'm doing a blind run, isn't it?) Some advocate grinding to L+5 for a Nuzlocke, but the game is FAIRLY smooth so far, and I haven't had to go to that extreme yet. However, the L15 Squirtle was VERY handy when those L14 people popped up, so I'd say L16 is around the right level for now.

See you after grinding! :D
