As it turns out, the ??/?? HP monsters appear in the battle right after that one.
Yikes.
And also monsters with instakill attacks. So I can't place my hero in range of the Assassins... duly noted.
Wish I could say I had some complicated strategy, but I'm basically having my physical units wall while the mages spam magic against the enemies. For all intents and purposes, the hero is ALSO a mage (due to modified!Chaos Breaker's Bolt 2 spell), so... gotta be more careful, I guess. :\
On the bright side, with everyone maxing out on levels, I'll be able to give them the stat-boosters soon. Currently, the only boosted person was actually-good!Adam, who needed his Mobility boosted from 4 to 6.
Might have to retire Balbaroy. He had a VERY good run, but... both his HP and his Attack can't keep up with the boosted enemies. On the bright side, at least I used him, unlike previous playthroughs. :B
If I do, I'll replace him with Hanzou.
NOTE: Hanzou was an improvement. He managed to survive through almost all of the Colossus battle, dying only as a decoy for the left-hand head.
Those alive at the end of the Colossus battle:
Gong 20/31 Master Monk
Anri 20/22 Wizard
Bleu 20/21 Great Dragon
Guntz 20/20 Steam Baron
...and Galois (20/19 Hero), hiding off in a corner as usual.
Now, to resurrect and - THE DARKSOL BATTLE LOOKS LIKE WHAT?
*whimpers and curls into the fetal position*
...It's... definitely... a worthy final battle... for this mod...
(Yeah, you may be looking funny at Gong's status. He's one of my two Aura users. >_> That's... about how things go in this mod. :D I LOVE THIS MOD!!!)
