So, what am I thankful for?
Let's see.
I'm thankful for all my friends on Livejournal and Dreamwidth, and the fun I have with them.
I'm thankful for a full stomach, a roof over my head, and a safe neighborhood in which to live. If I have to expand on that point, I'm thankful for a lack of parasites, lack of perpetual malnutrition, lack of a completely corrupt government, lack of famines and diseases sweeping subsistence-level-farming crops, lack of malaria-carrying mosquitoes, lack of fundamentalists shooting vaccine-deliverers, lack of acute inadequacies in the local sewage system...
...Forgive me, my father does work for a charitable organization interested in the improvement of health in developing countries. :x I've learned... a great deal about issues pertaining to said topic. Moving on...
I'm thankful for intelligent and tolerant parents, and in particular a very hard-working, well-informed, and articulate father. (I am thankful for my mother's sacrifice in taking care of me all these years.)
I'm thankful for my professors.
I'm thankful for my schooling and my education.
I'm thankful for my intelligence WHEN I CAN BE BOTHERED TO USE IT.
I'm thankful for the opportunities to learn different languages.Incidentally, I ought to refresh my Latin.
I'm thankful that my emotional issues are probably better than this same time last year, and certainly better than they were two years ago.
This may be wretched to say, but on that same subject, I'm thankful for my relative mental-health privilege. Life ain't perfect. It could be so much worse.
I'm thankful for emulators... stop laughing... for giving me the opportunity to enjoy many of my favorite old games without having to dig out ancient systems of dubious functionality and long-lost cartridges.
I'm thankful for the Internet - GOOD GAD I AM THANKFUL FOR THE INTERNET. I THINK EVERYONE IS THANKFUL FOR THE INTERNET EXCEPT FOR CERTAIN GOVERNMENTS.
I'm thankful for... well... just about everything that doesn't drive me bananas. :) And especially for everything here on Livejournal and Dreamwidth.
Have a happy Thanksgiving, guys.
