Re: BRINGS THIS POST BACK FROM THE DEAD

"But I can deal with Raigh...I like it better than Arvis, anyway. XD"
With Raigh, I just think "RAAAAAAAAAAAIGH" or FE!Reddit Raighcomics. I don't even see how they GET Raigh from "Re * I". o_o

"Definitely, at least she admitted to being oversensitive. If only she could realize that was kind of a PROBLEM considering said breakdowns."
I think she did realize it was a problem, but... not that it was a REALLY BIG problem, you know? On the level of "I snack too much" or "I oversleep on weekends" rather than "I may need to take a break from fandom". (In all fairness, she did in the end.)

"Kenny...wait, Kenny already is a broken woobie. But she'd make him worse."
Don't be silly! She'd make him Meowth! (He's really babbling the world's best snark through his hoodie. Only his friends can speak Pokemon Kennylish, though. :P)

"And Nate doesn't exist because his hair is stupid so he MUST be a dumb shounen protag!!!"
Well, he shows up at Battle Subway, so maybe he's just an unimportant side-character. But she'd probably bash Cheren because she didn't like him from B1W1 and bash various random people for not UNDERSTANDING HUGH'S PAIN. (And there'd be at least one Ash Expy in the evil!Team Plasma. 'DURRRR I WANNA BE A POKEMON MASTER DURRRRR')

"Holy shit, it is. @_@ I know it's kind of messed up for two people to go on and on about one Suethor who's been out of fandom for that long, but...she left such a legacy. It's hard not to."
Yeah, and I'll give Cori credit on the following fronts:
* She covered a large chunk of the canon from beginning to (her) end.
* She covered the backstories of her favorite characters (and of their parents, etc.) in great depth.
* She covered the futures of her favorite characters in (FAR TOO MUCH) depth.
* She covered the main side-characters as well.
* She kept her own versions of the characterizations consistent.
* She conveyed real emotion (if REALLY OVERDONE EMOTION) in her characters.
* She managed to keep it all in the same universe without tripping over herself too many times (which is more than some profic authors can manage).
* She wrapped up all loose ends (and in fact dedicated a massive trilogy, a literally-novel-length backstory, and an irritatingly long future-fic to doing so).

She may have done a great deal of that with the aid of Xeroxed characterizations, epic wish-fulfillment, and extreme wangst and glurge, but she nonetheless did it. Corny and horrendous as it was, she outdid bad proficcers in many of those areas, and did it for no pay whatsoever (and apparently while holding down a job). Batshit, ridiculous, and jammed full of unfortunate characterizations as it was, there really was a WYDSverse, rather than just a hashed-out 'OMG TWERPZ SUK TR ROOLZ!!1!!' cardboard sheet like a lot of bashfic. And it was a FINISHED 'verse, rather than one the author cultivated for two years* and then dumped for a new fandom. ...So I really have to give her credit for all of that. And I swear I wouldn't carp about the WYDSverse so much if I wasn't so disappointed at what could have been.

*Not calling out any 'verses here - this seems to be the general attention span for epic!'verse authors, due to real life and changing interests and the like. Heck, this even holds for one Harry Potter 'verse that got finished - the author, being apparently some sort of alien machine sent to Earth to write the best HP AU ever, managed to output seven massive fics averaging about 430K each between 9-15-05 and 1-5-07. O_O And now I have to crawl off to go have a heart attack
