Yeah, she treated it more like a petty bad habit than something that could be seriously bad for her.
Ohhh yeah. XD Waving pompoms and cheering on Stan and Wendy's perfect lovemaking and all that.
Poor Cheren. D: Though wouldn't Shigeru1313 eventually convince her he was okay? Since above, you did mention her sneaking off with Cheren while Cori wept over N.
Yeah, and I'll give Cori credit on the following fronts: * She covered a large chunk of the canon from beginning to (her) end. * She covered the backstories of her favorite characters (and of their parents, etc.) in great depth. * She covered the futures of her favorite characters in (FAR TOO MUCH) depth. * She covered the main side-characters as well. * She kept her own versions of the characterizations consistent. * She conveyed real emotion (if REALLY OVERDONE EMOTION) in her characters. * She managed to keep it all in the same universe without tripping over herself too many times (which is more than some profic authors can manage). * She wrapped up all loose ends (and in fact dedicated a massive trilogy, a literally-novel-length backstory, and an irritatingly long future-fic to doing so).
Yep. Like I said, she sure was dedicated. I do have to hand it to her for not half-assing everything and knowing the meaning of consistency-at least within her own characterizations. I can only think of the marriage goof-up between "Thrill of Defeat" and "Thorns of the Rose" as a serious inconsistency on her end.
She may have done a great deal of that with the aid of Xeroxed characterizations, epic wish-fulfillment, and extreme wangst and glurge, but she nonetheless did it. Corny and horrendous as it was, she outdid bad proficcers in many of those areas, and did it for no pay whatsoever (and apparently while holding down a job). Batshit, ridiculous, and jammed full of unfortunate characterizations as it was, there really was a WYDSverse, rather than just a hashed-out 'OMG TWERPZ SUK TR ROOLZ!!1!!' cardboard sheet like a lot of bashfic. And it was a FINISHED 'verse, rather than one the author cultivated for two years* and then dumped for a new fandom. ...So I really have to give her credit for all of that. And I swear I wouldn't carp about the WYDSverse so much if I wasn't so disappointed at what could have been.
Yeah. When it comes down to it, if you ignore the creepy implications and her shitty behavior she was just another fan having fun. And if she'd just stayed with that, rather than making the romance all yandere and nearly killing a twelve-year-old and showing her ass constantly in her rants...who knows? She could've been one of those fun guilty pleasure ficcers from the old days. The Pokemon world's answer to Catherine Anderson (at least for me, I don't know if you've read her stuff).
