How To Die Horribly And... WTF, Sully? VI

Chapter 11:

*pleasantly* Well, Tharja died at one point and Sumia died at another, but I made it on my third try. Sent Sully west and then down with a Steel Sword, had her dispatch her foes, and eventually promoted her (at the end of the battle). Paired Cordelia with Nowi because her Resistance was oddly low for a Pegasus Knight and had Nowi act as her ranged attack against the mages to the east while Sumia went with Panne and just tanked the hits with a Javelin. Lissa and Maribelle spent a good deal of this fight blocking forts. Tharja and Miriel ended up doing a lot of stupid shit running around and kiting out one enemy at a time, but somehow survived. (La-dee-dah, I did not abuse Ricken's old Elwind tome at allll...)

Tharja died, by the way, to Gangrel poor judgment. Sumia died to my attempting to have her tank hits on the fort southwest of where the party starts. -_-;; Yes, I tried to tank hits with a Pegasus Knight. You may start in with the hysterical laughter now. (Schala was with Anna, by the way, which is why everyone else had bizarre partnerships. Chrom, as always, was cowering behind his sister.)

On the SUCCESSFUL run, Sully went west and Schala went down the middle, thus demolishing hordes of mid-level units before other ladies could even get within range. Pegasus Knights have such miserable bulk that two of them count as one bulky unit, so I basically used the same strategy to the east. Once I did that, I realized that 'Rout the enemy' meant that Gangrel's death wasn't the end of the level, so I could afford to trigger the movement of his squadron and dispatch them before I let Anna come out and pick the chest. (And yes, I dispatched the Thief. Did that right after Anna got the chest, in fact, though honestly I'd just forgotten about his existence until that point...)

And then the whole thing turned into a clusterfuck because, as it turns out, I managed to trigger Gangrel's movement on the same turn that several reinforcements arrived... but, er, I survived! Eventually! So never mind any unflattering incidents...

Gangrel died to Panne, by the way. Due to tremendously awful strategy, I ended up having to tank a Levin Sword double attack with MARIBELLE (her Resistance is the stuff of saints) and then basically had to finish him off with whatever was nearby. Schala weakened him, but surprisingly wasn't fast enough to double.

TL;DR: Brill, when you do this chapter, tank hits with actual tanks, NOT with mages and Pegasus Knights. Don't get too fussed about Exp. distribution - you can worry about feeding Exp. once you've thinned out the ranks a bit. NOT when units even on forts will get mobbed by 4-6... anuses... at one time.

Final stats:
Schala L20/4 Grandmaster
Lissa L17 Cleric
Sully L20/1 Paladin
Miriel L13/2 Dark Mage
Sumia L19 Pegasus Knight
Maribelle L12 Troubador
Panne L14 Taguel
Cordelia L12 Pegasus Knight
Nowi L11 Manakete
Tharja L16 Dark Mage
Anna L1 Trickster
Olivia L2 Dancer

Deaths: 10 (Sully, Miriel, Maribelle, Maribelle, MARIBELLE, Lissa, Sumia, Tharja, Tharja, Sumia)
Supports: Lissa/Schala C, Sully/Schala B, Sumia/Schala C, Miriel/Schala A, Sully/Sumia A, Panne/Cordelia C, Nowi/Schala C
, Maribelle/Lissa C, Schala/Anna C...

...and, uhhhhhhh...

You see, I skipped through the ending dialogue because I KNEW Chrom had no spouse. He had no C supports with anyone, and literally the only interaction he'd had with any unit save Lissa and Frederick all run (and Gaius, Libra, Tharja, and Anna when he recruited them) had been a single Barracks conversation with Sully. Since Olivia, as I recall, needs to have enough support points for a C-support in order to marry Chrom via the Chapter 11 failsafe mechanism, I took that as the bar any other woman had to vault over and thought nothing of it.
So I went through to the Chapter 12 beginning scene, tapped through Reimi's report, and, having given myself over to utter resignation for the worst, kept waiting for the Village Maiden to show up...
...and then Sully walked up to Chrom.
I stared at the screen in bewilderment, wondering if I'd forgotten a scene where Sully has to talk to Chrom. I mean, uh, I guess she is a part of Chrom's crew just like Frederick, so she might have been reporting on some military matter -
And it then turned out she was Lucina's mother.
WHAT?
How did - Chrom had been hidden beneath LISSA this entire time! He doesn't have a C support with any living being! How did the failsafe mechanism NOT go through to Village Mai-
That single Barracks conversation.
It was enough to boost Sully into failsafe-mechanism territory.

So I DON'T get a Village-Maiden-mothered Lucina. By sheer luck.

And I might get Kjelle, depending on the technicalities of this run's rules. Because she IS a female unit, and her mother IS married...

...Dang. This almost feels like cheating, but I can't exactly UN-mother Lucina now...

As I was saying - final support? Chrom/Sully S.

Wow.
Okay, I've now looked this up on Serene's Forest.

I am tempted to burst out laughing.

Chrom's forced marriage

Due to plot reasons, if Chrom isn't married by the end of Chapter 11, he will automatically marry the female character (Lissa excluded) whom he shares the highest support level with (A > B > C > none).

Special case 1: If Chrom has obtained at least 18 points with Olivia (after rounding to the nearest 9) and hasn't obtained a C support level with any of his other marriage candidates, he will marry Olivia.

Special case 2: If Chrom hasn't gained at least 9 points (after rounding) with any of his candidates and/or if all of his candidates are married to other men, he will marry a nameless village maiden.

In the case of equal support levels (and if neither of the special cases apply), Chrom will marry the candidate with the least support points required for the next support level (after rounding).

HE LITERALLY HAD THE BARE MINIMUM AMOUNT OF SUPPORT POINTS TO AVOID FALLING THROUGH TO VILLAGE MAIDEN.

Amazing. Absolutely amazing.

The coincidence in point totals just has to be deliberate...

SULLY?! XD What, did you accidentally have them fight together a few times? Usually Sumia or Robin would be the one you had to worry about, but damn. Sully's a ninja. XD

Ohhh, I must've missed that. And yeah, barracks convos can be sneaky. I had to avoid the barracks for days while I was trying to hook Chrom up with Olivia and leave Sumia single for Henry, all because Chrom and Sumia had ONE event.
