How To Die Horribly And Repeatedly On Fire Emblem Awakening: A Playtest V

Paralogue 4

I finally have my damn Thief! Bye-bye, Gaius~♡

Admittedly it got hairy there because Anna ended up running up to the boss before I could chase her down, but I managed to save her anyway.

Miriel's changed to Dark Mage. No real notable differences, but it may come in handy next battle. I'll need every point of Defense I can get, since Sully will likely take the left hand of the map and I'll need other units for help when scrambling for survival.

Yes... one chapter until Chrom marries the Village Maiden. Ugh. As I said, I'll only be using Lucina because of Parallel Falchion. Robin will switch to backing her when that comes.

Final stats:
Schala L20/2 Grandmaster
Lissa L16 Cleric
Sully L18 Cavalier
Miriel L13/1 Dark Mage
Sumia L16 Pegasus Knight
Maribelle L11 Troubador
Panne L12 Taguel
Cordelia L12 Pegasus Knight
Nowi L10 Manakete
Tharja L14 Dark Mage
Anna L1 Trickster

Deaths: 8 (Sully, Miriel, Maribelle, Maribelle, MARIBELLE, Lissa, Sumia, Tharja)
Supports: Lissa/Schala C, Sully/Schala B, Sumia/Schala C, Miriel/Schala A, Sully/Sumia A, Panne/Cordelia C, Nowi/Schala C
, Maribelle/Lissa C

I'm going to the airport for a brief trip soon, so updates will disappear for a bit. I'll have cleared a chapter or two by the time I get back online, so don't be surprised if levels take a sudden hike without notes of how they got there.

Hm, I have to update Poisoned Haven, don't I? And Randomized Silver. Ugh...

How To Die Horribly And Repeatedly On Fire Emblem Awakening: A Playtest IV

Chapter 10:

Arguably botched it by failing to get the Thieves, forcing me to sell off Libra's Ward staff after the battle to afford a Second Seal from a traveling merchant. Otherwise fine.

Advise sending Nosferatu!Tharja/Miriel and Nowi/Robin north, accompanied by a healer, and sending others east. Watch out for reinforcements!

Sending Tharja west... did not go well. So send her north, in a corridor where you can handle it.

Final stats:
Schala L20/2 Grandmaster
Lissa L14 Cleric
Sully L18 Cavalier
Miriel L13 Mage
Sumia L14 Pegasus Knight
Maribelle L10 Troubador
Panne L11 Taguel
Cordelia L12 Pegasus Knight
Nowi L9 Manakete
Tharja L13 Dark Mage

Deaths: 8 (Sully, Miriel, Maribelle, Maribelle, MARIBELLE, Lissa, Sumia, Tharja)
Supports: Lissa/Schala C, Sully/Schala B, Sumia/Schala C, Miriel/Schala A, Sully/Sumia A, Panne/Cordelia C, Nowi/Schala C

Heavily considering class-changing Miriel to Dark Mage, as I've heard it works better than straight Mage. I have no intention to change the healers because I enjoy healing like a madwoman too much, you couldn't PAY me to change the Pegasus Knights, and I'd prefer to change Panne after L15 if at all possible. I have a Master Seal for Sully, so I'll be promoting her to Paladin. That's my reasoning, anyway. I'll probably change her five seconds after posting this... (I hear class-changes are very good, and they'll probably be especially important in this one. La-dee-dah, wish me luck...)

Chapter 9:

Libra was easier than I thought. Overleveled Sully=very handy.

Unfortunately gave up a lot of Exp by throwing Robin into the line of fire in order to reduce enemies around Tharja.

Got Sumia killed off on an earlier attempt. As I said, damned axe-wielders.

Have Sully dispatch Wyvern reinforcements. Pair her with a Pegasus Knight so that she can get back to the action after she's done wiping them out mercilessly. Keep Robin south in order for her to bait the units AROUND Tharja, but not Tharja herself. Check Tharja's movement range carefully. It was really annoying to have to have Nowi take her tomes so she wouldn't murder Tharja on the counterattack that one turn where I screwed it up... REMEMBER THAT ONLY CHROM CAN RECRUIT THARJA!

Final stats:
Schala L20/2 Grandmaster
Lissa L14 Cleric
Sully L16 Cavalier
Miriel L12 Mage
Sumia L13 Pegasus Knight
Maribelle L8 Troubador
Panne L10 Taguel
Cordelia L10 Pegasus Knight
Nowi L6 Manakete
Tharja L10 Dark mage

Deaths: 7 (Sully, Miriel, Maribelle, Maribelle, MARIBELLE, Lissa, Sumia)
Supports: Lissa/Schala C, Sully/Schala B, Sumia/Schala C, Miriel/Schala A, Sully/Sumia B, Panne/Cordelia C

Note: I've been trying to catch weaker characters up on Exp. Hence why levels haven't gone up that much. I realize I'm going to screw myself over if I'm not careful, but Sully is very good and can handle a lot of situations. (She's better than Frederick in every stat save Defense [one point] now.)

I have almost a full team by now. Tharja should push me over. ...I don't like using Tharja for the same reason I don't like using Gregor - their stats are wonk and I don't feel like they're particularly good at anything. However, beggars can't be choosers, and I need all the ladies I can get. Even Say'ri. Ugh. After all, if I get enough high-powered women, I'll have enough units to survive Tiki's Paralogue. And more Manaketes NEVER hurt. (Unless you're Jahn and your enemies are carting Divine Weapons. But that's off-topic.)

I hate hate hate hate HATE axe-wielders. They do way too much damage to my Pegasus Knights (since they can hit due to Weapon Triangle Advantage), they do horrible things to squishy units, and I don't have many sword-users to counter them. One of said sword-users is so overpowered I make a point of NOT using her. (A Robin solo is probably easier than one would think. Just grab the free Second Seal from the Renown awards [which I haven't accessed, by the way] when she first hits level 20, use a Master Seal when she hits it again, and generally just let her max out all her caps like she's freaking Donnel.) Just... gaaaaah. They're no longer a joke when you're using only ladies.

The title is a lot less indicative than I thought it would be. You sacrifice a lot of bulk AND SWORD-WIELDERS when you give up the male characters, but careful planning keeps the ladies alive. Besides, Sully's pretty bulky, and Robin is always overpowered. (15 Defense. Mweh heh heh. Choke on that, Frederick.) It's possible... just be prepared for a few losses if you're playing for keeps. (And if you're not a very good tactician. :\ *blergh*)

All right. So a friend's going to attempt a female-only run sometime, and as such I should use this as an excuse to procrastinate on both work and Nuzlockes try it out to see if it's plausible.

Note: male characters not used = male characters not used for S-rank supports = no second-genners except Lucina, who will be mothered by the Village Maiden. And a level 1 Chrom. *whimper* Are we sure Robin can't, um, stuff Chrom into her harem? Just for safekeeping?

No? Damnit.

General advice after playing several chapters: Pair Up. Pair Up will save your LIFE.

Switch weak units to the front of Pair Ups when you can calculate that proper placement won't get them killed on the next turn, then switch back. Try to keep levels even. You need as many levels as possible.

The exception is the tactician, who is going to get hideously overleveled just because she's the only one who can survive death and murder. Past the first chapter or so, she's a better Jeigan than Frederick. Use her and use her often.

Premonition:
One of you is close to someone who needs help... find this person...fast.

Note: Up to this point, I have done no content outside of the normal chapters and Paralogues. I have not even used Risen battles.

I'm not looking forward to Chapter 9, what with suicidal-idiot!Libra and only-Chrom-can-recruit!Tharja. Oh sweet gad. WHO thought it was a good idea to have several characters recruitable ONLY via talking to them with Chrom? *sigh* Well, good luck to myself on keeping Nowi alive...
