Notes on FE7:
* Was Nils ALWAYS this much of a chatterbox? Okay, I admit I was tapping rapidly through the dialogue on my way to get to the actual battle, but it seems like the kid talks an awful lot. Maybe it was just the contrast with his sister...
If so, though, we know he got it from Daddy.
** It's kind of funny how the dragon siblings apparently got their Daddy's traits distributed between them. Nils is talkative and take-charge (to the point where he comes off as a little cocky... it must just be me, since I don't remember that from earlier runs), but Ninian's the curious one. I guess Aenir must have been rather quiet and laid-back? Someone had to provide those personality traits...
** You want to notice something else that's funny? Compare Nils's outfit to the CG where Nergal and Athos meet.

...Nils, you look so much like Daddy. Down to the same bloody positioning of your daggers!
Makes a nice sight gag after you know about Chapter 19xx, anyway...
* Hector, you tsundere. *snerk* [Yes, I did just get Hector/Lyn A again.]
* Elbert claimed Eliwood had natural skill in battle, though he disdained fighting. Elbert lied.
* I am quite ready to strip Hector down and just have him camp out in the middle of New Resolve with his 13 DEF or whatnot while Rebecca and Dart conservatively chip away at the Wyverns. :P

Elbert: Well...he is susceptible to the RNG. But when it favors him, look out!

Mm-hmm. Keep telling yourself that, Elbert. |P

Elbert: ...at least he can promote.
Marth: Hey, leave me out of this!

Heck knows, I'm STILL trying to figure out how the Renault timeline works. Canas refers to the Morphs as "centuries" old. Renault and Nergal split up upon creation of the FIRST Morph. Renault was still murderous when Lucius was a toddler - less than two decades ago, at most.
...Wonka wonka wonka?
Roy: Would somebody please tell me how I was born from a Xerox? You'd think I would have inherited some dodging skills from Ninian, Myrmidon-like boosts from Lyn, or STR and RES from Fiora... D:
[It would be interesting if there was a modern FE game where kids' stats and growths were in some way dependent upon their parents'.
Imagine the wank. 'Yes, Arnold and Bianca may have true love, but Arnold and Catherine have spawn with SO MUCH BETTER STATS! And you HAVE to have the sole Dark Magic user breed, because otherwise you're screwed out of Luna for the entire second generation...']no subject
I know, the Renault timeline is definitely a bit of a puzzle.
Lilina: Hey, I inherited my dad's awesome attack power and low skill. D:
at least my Lilinas tend to have skill issues. Then again just about everyone in that game does.(Oddly enough, my Roy's gaining some pretty epic dodging skills. His strength is as bad as a myrmidon's, though...I know Roy is The Suck Lord, but I always have pretty good luck with him!)
(OH God. XD
"And Bianca's a useless clingy stalker girl whose kids don't offer anything amazing so you should make her die and get her substitute kids, they have Charisma and Elite! Meanwhile don't even THINK about pairing Dave with anyone, he's slow and stupid and ugly even if he can use A-rank bows and swords, thus passing down good weapons to Ella or Fiona's kids...")no subject
I honestly don't know if Renault's Supports were designed by several different people who were given his personality without any clear dates on the backstory. It might explain things. D| ('Ohhhhh... he was supposed to be working for Nergal CENTURIES ago? Huh, I had him still being teh evil when Lucius was a toddler - What do you mean, he was Wallace's mentor? AAAAAARGH!')
...That Roy must be Eliwood/Lyn spawn, then. :P
(I have to go somewhere, so I can't elaborate, but yeeeeeeeah, I can only imagine... man, imagine if one lady passed down awesome stats to her kids, but her two possible husbands make said kids either all magic-users or all weapon-users - no middle ground. The fan wars would be ridiculous. Or if you had to choose between having a crop of kids being Glass Cannons or Mighty Glaciers...)

At this point I've got to wonder. Or they wanted to give us a bunch of red herrings...or start fanwank on purpose.
Nope, my last FE7 game paired Eliwood with Ninian. XD
(Seriously. D: If Elibe played out like Jugdral did, the shipping wars would be even WORSE. Actually, I sorta came up with an idea of my own like that only it involves some OCs. >.>)

"Niime: The power you're trying to obtain... It's not to be taken lightly. It can tilt the planet if misused.
Ray: Hmph...so? I'll blow up a planet or two any day.
Niime: ...I see. Well said, boy."
So I DO think the endgame of elder-magic IS the power of a god. The problem is that Bramimond is the ONLY one who has ever attained it in millenia of humans mucking about with the elder magic... which indicates just how easy it is to screw up. And Bramimond still lost its identity - all that differentiates it from the 'failures' is that it retains free will.
[It's not elder magic that confuses me, actually. It's LIGHT magic. What is its power source? I'm cynical about its supposed divine origins - Kenneth was an atheist, yet he had no problem wielding it. We also know it overpowers the darkness, but is subordinate to elemental forces. How's this work, again? ...It would be an interesting parody/deconstruction to write a fic exploring just what Elimine tapped into...
...Or I could be over-complicating it, and the answer is just "It's solar energy, dimwit." |P I don't know. I like fanwanking magic systems.]
--
Fanwank is good for a fandom! It keeps the fans slavishly buying any and all new material in a desperate attempt to gather enough canon to find out just WTF is going on here. |P
Ah, but tell Roy's stats that. |P
(I'd LOVE more of those antics. *cackles*
And I would totally go against optimal stats to keep my favored couples together.Actually, I thought of another horrible idea - what if the optional parent determined which of the kids would be stronger? So Nino/Erk would power up Lugh, but Nino/Jaffar would power up Ray. >:D Imagine the furious arguments over which is better! And then contemplate what would happen if they went the Phantasy Star III route and had the game take place over THREE generations...)
