guardians_song: A crop from FE7's Arcadia CG showing Nergal and two villagers chatting over scrolls. (scholarly)

Aaaand now I've finally hit Javascript, where I actually need to pay attention.

console.log("Huh");
if (javascript === C++)
   {
        console.log("Are you kidding me?! It's really weird...");
   }
else
  {
       console.log("Bugger, this is rather strange.");
   }

And I probably botched the syntax

Dear Certain Internet Commentators,

No, it really wouldn't make the Western world more ~sensitive~ to replicate cultures from poorer, more ~humble~ countries. And you know why?

Because those cultures often outright condone rape, physical abuse, gay-bashing, iron-bound obedience to authority and tradition, general severe retaliation against those who deviate from their social norms, and all sorts of atrocious behavior! And THAT is part of why those cultures have such a tradition of ~humility~! BECAUSE THOSE WHO AREN'T WILL GET SMASHED!

Furthermore, poverty does not equate to goodness and wealth does not equate to insensitivity and callousness. Moreover, to say something actually controversial, I don't believe power corrupts; I believe power only allows people to express what's inside them, but was previously repressed because they couldn't afford it before coming into power.

Luke: There’s something not right here… I feel cold. Death.
Yoda: That place… is strong with the dark side of the Force. A domain of evil it is…. In you must go.
Luke: What’s in there?
Yoda: Only what you take with you.

...pretty much expresses my feelings on the subject.

Look. I understand the West has many, many, many problems. I understand similarly that cultures from said low-wealth countries have many good points. I'm the first, under other circumstances, to start going on and on about the virtues of hard work, discipline, grounding in a harsh and accurate self-image, integrity, and other such principles highly valued by such cultures. (And I do mean on and on... and on and on... *embarrassed*)

But when people start going on as if those cultures are ~flawless~... it creeps me out. And it fills me with genuine fear - because, if those cultures are uncritically glorified, those who suffer because of them will be swept under the carpet to satisfy that spotless vision. And that is inexcusable.

No regards,
